NGERI TAK ??
This animal was caught and surrendered by the Kelantan's Dept. of Wildlife & National Parks
( PERHILITAN ) on 30th January 2004. The animal was trapped at Kampung Lepan Bola, Batu Gajah, Jeli, Kelantan Darul Naim.
Upon the arrival, noticed that the left front paw had already amputated ( don't know the cause ... may be due to wire snare ) .There are also wounds all over its body... treatment done and antibiotics given to prevent secondary infection at the wounds.
Somewhere in April, 2004, a new female ranger was attacked by this animal on her face, about few centimetres from her right eye. This ranger was attacked using its right paw, which was not amputated. This scene happened due to the ranger did not alert of the animal.. excitedly playing around during the round at the quarantine, full with man-eater and fierce wildcaught tigers and panthers.
A year after the incident, the fierce panther was attacked by the tiger. What did happened? The tail of this animal was eaten and left only about 3 inches from the base.
This tragic photos was taken on 20th May 2006, where another attacked occured at the same Quarantine area. Don't know what was really happened there, the keeper found this panther's right leg stucked in between the bars. When it was found, the animal was still alive, biting himself to get rid from the bars, to escape. Quickly tried to
get the Veterinarian on the phone but could not reach her. So, I called up my Director to ask for the permission to euthanise the animal in order to ease its pain. In this case, no point of saving its life by major surgery when its chances to survived are on 50-50 to live. Got the permission done and I slowly administer 10 mls of DOLETHAL intravenousely after sedated with Zoletil 100
6 mg/kgs bw.
My Feelings? Well ... I'm quite sad but I feel relieved for not letting the animal to suffer for life.
So, for those yang kata I kejam, think again...
If you are in my situation, will you do the same action as I did? Are you going to let the animal suffer?
I guess that's all I wanna story you about the life of an injured panther. Ambil iktibar on what had happened dan jangan gaduh-gaduh sesama keluarga ( macam harimau kumbang ni dan harimau belang = satu family ).
